Description:
Elgin 16S 17J adj. grade 381 pocket watch #14784100, beautiful nickel 3-finger bridge movement with screw-down jewel settings, gold center wheel and a bar-style damascene pattern accented with inner and outer geometric designs, double sunk (DS) porcelain enamel dial with Roman numerals, red 5 minute Arabic number markers and a black marked subsidiary seconds register has some short light discoloration scuffs but no hairlines, blue steel spade style hands.
Re-cased into a lovely fully engraved yellow gold filled (YGF) hunting case (HC), both sides have engine turning behind the large floral engravings curving up each side and a tall fancy arch-like design from the bottom to center that frames an oval monogram shield, shield is blank on one side and has an engraving of a tall steepled church by a lake or the ocean in the other, beaded detail on the bezels and a large heavy bow, case is showing normal even wear overall with notable smoothing to the engraved designs along with small spots of brass starting to show on the bezels and pendant, additionally the inner bezel is a little loose, still solidly secured to the frame but it has a small bit of "wiggle" that we've been unable to correct, measures approx. 51mm diameter x 70mm in length x 13mm thick (crystal included). A lovely vintage Elgin from the early 1900s, especially with the desirable 3-finger bridge movement design, a wonderful watch to carry or display in excellent overall condition!
