Waltham 16S 17J lever set (LS) adj. Railroader pocket watch #8478115, handsome nickel split plate movement with screw-down gold jewel settings (GJS) and an unusual concentric circle damascene pattern that is offset so that the center of the circle design is the balance wheel as opposed to the center post on traditional circular patterns, single sunk (SS) porcelain enamel Railroader-style dial with distinctive faceted Arabic-style numbers, a unique minute marker ring and a black-marked subsidiary seconds register is marked "Railroader", dial has an expert repair at 8 o'clock and a few faint hairlines, blue steel moon-style hands, attractive yellow gold filled (YGF) screw back & bezel (SB&B) case with engine turning under the blank round monogram shield, glass crystal and a heavy bow, case is showing normal moderate wear overall but does have small lines and spots of brass starting to show on the bezels, frame and bow along with a notable section of brass and scuffing on the frame at 6 o'clock, measures approx. 50mm in diameter x 69mm in length x 15mm thick (crystal included). A great find for the collector looking to fill out their collection with one of the harder to find models from the Waltham catalog, this watch from the 1890s has seen quite a bit of wear but is still looking sharp with its distinctive design and is in very good overall condition!
