Description:
Ball-Hamilton 18S 17J lever set (LS) adj. 5p Order of Railway Conductors (ORC) grade 999 Official Railroad Standard pocket watch #118786, impressive nickel full plate movement with screw-down gold jewel settings (GJS) and a concentric circle damascene pattern, movement is also marked "O of RC", single sunk (SS) porcelain enamel dial with fancy Arabic style numbers and a black-marked subsidiary seconds register is marked "Trade Mark ORC Standard Ball & Co. Cleveland.", dial has a few faint hairlines and a small flake at the edge of the dial near the lever, purple steel spade style hands.
Heavy yellow gold filled (YGF) engraved Ball-model swing-out case with a fancy monogram shield with initials, possibly "I.C.", large flowers engraved around the outer edge, thick glass crystal and a heavy bow, case is showing normal even wear overall with some notable smoothing to the engraving and a few small spots of brass starting to show on the lip around the crystal as well as the pendant and crown, additionally it appears the bow is a replacement to the case as it has a slightly different tone and may be yellow base metal (YBM) instead of gold filled, measures approx. 55mm diameter x 73mm in length x 18mm thick (crystal included). A very desirable triple signed railroad grade Ball watch from the early 1900s that was customized for the ORC labor union, a little worn from use but still an attractive watch for the Ball watch collector looking to add a hard-to-find model to their collection, in excellent overall condition!
