Elgin 18S 15J lever set (LS) adj. 2p hunting case movement (HCM) B.W. Raymond grade 70 pocket watch #3043589, handsome gilt full plate movement with screw-down jewel settings, a brushed finish and an elaborately engraved balance bridge, single sunk (SS) porcelain enamel dial with Roman numerals and a black-marked subsidiary seconds register has a few faint hairlines, blue steel spade style hands, re-cased into a heavy smooth polish yellow gold filled (YGF) screw back & bezel (SB&B) case with large floral engraved designs across the back cover, coin edge bezels, a heavy bow and a thick glass crystal, case is showing moderate wear with notable smoothing to the engraving, a small dent on the frame and brass showing on the bezels, frame, pendant & bow, additionally the glass does have some scuffs & small scratches across the surface, we can replace the crystal with a new plastic one at no charge on request, measures approx. 55mm in diameter x 74mm in length x 17mm thick (crystal included). An early, high quality Elgin from the 1880s in very good overall condition!
