Description:
Illinois 16S 21J lever set (LS) adj. 6p Bunn Special pocket watch #4388009, impressive nickel split plate movement with screw-down raised gold jewel settings (GJS), a gold train & center wheel and a lovely radiant sunburst style damascene pattern, double sunk (DS) porcelain enamel dial with bold fancy Arabic numbers, black minute markers and a black-marked subsidiary seconds register has a few faint hairlines, bold purple steel spade & whip style hands.
Re-cased into a 2-tone yellow gold filled (YGF) & white gold filled (WGF) Bunn Special model smooth polish screw back & bezel (SB&B) case with an engraved chain link design on the WGF bezels, a YGF smooth polish frame and heavy pendant supporting the recessed crown and a heavy French style YGF bow, case is showing moderate wear with spots of brass showing on all the components, the bow is a replacement to the case and is not the correct style for the original Bunn Special model case, additionally we can not verify if this model originally came in a 2-tone version or if the bezels and frame are paired from separate cases, although both do match the expected early model Bunn Special case documentation drawings (excepting the bow), measures approx. 50mm in diameter x 65mm in length x 14mm thick (crystal included).
A very high quality triple signed Illinois railroad grade watch from the 1920s that, despite the cosmetic issues, still runs great and would be perfect to carry everyday, in good overall condition!
