Waltham 16S 23J lever set (LS) adj. 6p Vanguard Up & Down indicator pocket watch #24604688, beautiful nickel bridge layout movement with raised gold jewel settings (GJS), a gold center wheel and an elaborate checkerboard damascene pattern with a wavy line concentric circle border, the time set lever on this model is at 11 o'clock, mint single sunk (SS) porcelain enamel dial with bold fancy Arabic numbers, black minute markers, a black imitation double sunk (DS) line, a subsidiary power indictor register at 12 o'clock and a black-marked subsidiary seconds register at 6 o'clock, bold blue steel spade & whip style hands.

Impressive white gold filled (WGF) smooth polish King railroad model screw back & bezel (SB&B) case with a WGF friction fit dust cover under the back case, an elaborate inscription across the back "Andrew Gardiner", deep Greek key engraved patterns on both bezels and an extra heavy solid faceted pendant with a large heavy bow, case is showing light normal wear with very little smoothing on the bezels however a few small spots of wear showing on the upper pendant & bow, it should be noted that the inscription reading at a diagonal in the photos is with the back cover tightened down flush to the frame, we are unsure if there is some distortion on the case threads keeping the case back from turning down further or if the angled engraving was a purposeful artistic choice by a previous owner, measures approx. 52mm in diameter x 68mm in length x 15mm thick (crystal included). A high quality railroad grade Waltham with the desirable U&D wind indicator function from the 1920s in excellent+ overall condition!
