Elgin 18S 11J key wind G.M. Wheeler grade 57 pocket watch #239652, handsome gilt full plate movement with screw-down jewel settings, an engraved balance bridge and a brushed finish, single sunk (SS) porcelain enamel dial with Roman numerals and a black-marked subsidiary seconds register has a faint hairline at 12 o'clock, blue steel spade style hands, re-cased into a heavy smooth polish coin silver hunting case (HC) with a large fancy blank monogram shield with floral engraving around the outside, offset hinges, a hinged interior bezel over the dial and a large heavy bow, case is showing normal even wear overall with some smoothing to the engraving and a few small but moderately deep scratches on the reverse side, measures approx. 56mm in diameter x 83mm in length x 19mm thick. A heavy & impressive vintage Elgin from the 1870s in excellent overall condition!
