Gruen (Swiss) 17J Precision grade 440 wrist watch #A4299, case #G766390 440 448, vintage mechanical manual-wind nickel split plate movement with gilt lettering and bold red ruby jewels has a slightly curved plate design to mirror the case, single sunk (SS) champagne-toned metal dial with raised gold Arabic-style numbers and markers and a black-marked subsidiary seconds register is marked "Gruen Curvex Precision", dial does have some small specks of discoloration along with some light patina starting across the center, sleek gold steel baton-style hands with pointed tips.
Elegant long rectangular yellow gold filled (YGF) Curvex-model smooth polish case with a gently sloped wide bezel supporting a lightly domed glass crystal, tapered extended lugs and a Gruen-marked crown, back of the case has a notable curve to allow a more comfortable fit on the wearers' wrist, case is showing normal even wear overall with a few small spots of brass starting on the lugs and a small spot of scuffing on the crystal, measures approx. 22mm wide x 41mm lug to lug x 9mm thick (crystal included), fancy YGF & stainless steel (SS) bracelet-style band with a mesh-link style design for the length of the band, long YGF & SS clasp with vertical line engraving has an expansion feature that allows the band to be extended, for a wearable length between 6 1/4" and 7", band is showing normal even wear overall but does have some brass and scratches on the clasp. A very attractive, classic style vintage watch from the 1940s in excellent overall condition!
