Gruen 17J Precision Curvex grade 370 wrist watch #B887060, vintage mechanical manual-wind nickel split plate movement with gilt lettering and bold red ruby jewels has a slightly curved design to mirror the Curvex case, single sunk (SS) champagne-toned metal dial with raised fancy gold Arabic-style numbers and a black-marked subsidiary seconds register is marked "Gruen Curvex", dial has a few small specks of discoloration but no heavy scratches or damage, sleek gold steel whip-style hands.
Heavy yellow gold filled (YGF) long rectangular Gruen Curvex-model smooth polish case with sculpted side bezels support a fancy 3-plane faceted heavy acrylic crystal, slightly raised top & bottom U-shaped bezels where the 2 ends of the "U" are the narrow, tapered extended lugs, back of the case has an exaggerated curve to facilitate sitting more comfortably on the wearers' wrist, case is showing normal even wear overall with some small spots of brass starting to show on the bezel edges and lugs along with a few short but moderately deep scratches on the crystal, we can replace the crystal with a new plastic one at no charge on request, however it will not have the fancy profile of the current crystal, measures approx. 22mm wide x 43mm lug to lug x 11mm thick (crystal included), extra long YGF & stainless steel (SS) expansion band with wide rectangular segments that are deeply engraved down the center to give the band length a corrugated look. A high quality and desirable watch from the 1940s in excellent overall condition!
