Gruen 17J automatic (self-winding) Precision Veri-thin grade 460SS wrist watch #IF26736, case #1687 B, nickel movement with an unusual plate layout and bold red ruby jewels has an unusual 2nd anti-magnetic interior barrel cover over the movement, silver-toned metal dial with a brushed finish, fancy luminous Arabic numbers and markers outlined in black and black 5 minute, minute and second markers around the edge, dial has some patina in the center and a number of small scratches, additionally the luminous material does not appear to have retained its light emitting properties, gold steel skeletonized baton-style hands with pointed tips and luminous inserts and a gold sweep second hand, luminous material on the hands is still active, heavy stainless steel (SS) round water-resistant case with a smooth polish tapering bezel supporting a heavy domed glass crystal and faceted tapering extended lugs, case is showing normal even wear overall but does have a number of short scratches, measures approx. 32mm in diameter x 40mm lug to lug x 12mm thick (crystal included), tan canvas strap band with a white base metal (WBM) buckle clasp. An impressive military-grade vintage Gruen from the late 1940s in excellent overall condition!
