Hamilton 18J adj. grade 748 wrist watch #CY1855, case #S278386, handsome vintage mechanical manual-wind nickel split plate movement with an additional conversion plate and gear train for the sweep second hand, bold red ruby jewels and a bar-style damascene pattern, distinctive champagne-toned metal dial with a tight basket-weave style engraving, raised fancy gold Arabic-style numbers, raised gold ball 5 minute markers with luminous inserts and smaller gold ball minute markers, dial has some light patina and a few small spots of discoloration but no heavy scratches or damage, additionally the luminous material on the markers no longer has light emitting properties, fancy gold steel skeletonized long diamond-shaped hands with luminous inserts and a gold sweep second hand with a triangular luminous tip, luminous material on the hands is still working as expected, impressive heavy 10k gold "Coleman" round Hamilton case with a sloped bezel supporting a high domed acrylic crystal, Hamilton marked crown and elaborate curved, tapered extended lugs that are slightly offset from the frame, case is showing normal even wear with no heavy scratches or damage of note, measures approx. 34mm in diameter x 44mm lug to lug x 10mm thick (crystal included), case only weighs approx. 8.3dwt, new highly textured dark brown leather strap band. An attractive, high quality vintage solid gold Hamilton from the 1940s in excellent+ overall condition!
