Hamilton 17J grade 980 wrist watch #G177535, case #H183773, handsome vintage mechanical manual-wind nickel split plate movement with raised gold jewel settings, bold red ruby jewels and a brushed finish, single sunk (SS) champagne-toned metal dial with an imitation double sunk line, fancy raised gold Arabic-style numbers and a black-marked subsidiary seconds register has a number of small scratches and spots of discoloration, gold steel wedge-style hands, impressive yellow gold filled (YGF) smooth polish asymmetrical "Brooke" model Hamilton rectangular case, when looking down at the watch dial the narrow top flares out towards the bottom and while looking at the side of the watch, the 12 o'clock side is thick and narrows towards the 6 o'clock side, thick glass crystal, rounded in-line tapered extended lugs and a monogram on the back, "R.A. Herbst.", case is showing normal wear overall but does have some notable scratches and small chips on the crystal edge and a number of small spots of heavy wear and brass on the front lugs and back of the case, measures approx. 21mm (top)/22mm (bottom) wide x 40mm in length x 9mm (top)/6mm (bottom) thick (crystal included), highly textured brown leather strap band.
This watch also comes with a Hamilton off-white and gold Lucite box with a cream-colored satin interior and a Hamilton care booklet, box is in good overall condition but is missing the lower fitted velvet insert you typically see in similar Hamilton boxes. An uncommon and desirable high grade Hamilton from the 1930s for the collector or watch enthusiast in very good overall condition, perfect to wear daily!
