While this watch does have the proper "grouse" hallmark for a 0.800 silver case made in Switzerland during this era, the "EP" does usually indicate "Electro Plate" during this time as well. Based off the wear we see on the case, we do feel the wear on the case supports it being electroplated silver and we are selling it as such. We can also offer that this watch has been in the private collection of a local collector here in Denver since 1995, where it was purchased during a trip to Myanmar. A very large, handsome watch from the mid-1800s, with a history across many countries, in excellent overall condition!
