Waltham 16S 23J lever set (LS) adj. 6p Vanguard Up & Down indicator pocket watch #25402613, beautiful nickel bridge movement with a Lossier hairspring, raised gold jewel settings, a gold center wheel, diamond endstone and an elaborate concentric circle and checkerboard damascene pattern, double sunk (DS) porcelain enamel dial with large fancy Arabic-style numbers, a black marked subsidiary seconds register at 6 o'clock and a subsidiary 0-24 marked wind indicator register at 12 o'clock, dial has an unusual half-arc scratch on the lower half of the area around the center post and a small divot near 4 that may be a factory defect however no hairlines or other damage, black steel spade & whip style hands with a fancy second hand, minute hand is touched up and is likely a replacement to the set considering the scratch pattern on the dial.
Incredible white gold filled (WGF) Illinois Watch Case Co. screw back & bezel (SB&B) case with very fine line engraving vertically across the back cover, deep stylized "X" and bar engraving on both bezels, short heavy pendant with engraved floral accents and a slightly recessed crown, heavy fancy bow with matching floral accents and a glass crystal, case is showing hardly any wear with no notable smoothing to any of the engraving, no brass starting to show and only a few very light scuffs and scratches consistent with infrequent use and storage, measures approx. 52mm in diameter x 65mm in length x 14mm thick (crystal included). One of Waltham's most attractively finished high quality railroad grade movements in a case that should be seen to be truly appreciated for its hard to find condition, a beautiful watch from the 1920s that would make a fine centerpiece to any railroad watch collection in excellent+ condition overall!
