Waltham (A.W. Co.) 18S 7J key wind model 1883 pocket watch #10148352, handsome gilt full plate movement with a brushed finish, screw-down key post guide foot and an engraved balance bridge, single sunk (SS) porcelain enamel dial with Roman numerals and a black-marked subsidiary seconds register has a few faint hairlines, gold steel moon & whip style hands, heavy Sterling silver (hallmarked) hinge back & bezel (HB&B) smooth polish case with a large blank fancy monogram shield surrounded by an open circle, coin edge frame, offset hinges and a heavy hallmarked silver bow, case is showing normal even wear with some smoothing to the monogram shield area, a patch of light scuffing at the top of the back cover and a few scratches near all three case lips from opening attempts, additionally the silver hallmarks on the outer back cover are worn but you can make out the lion (top), anchor (left) and a "C" (right) when you hold the watch to the light correctly, there is some patina on this case that we can polish off on request however many of our customers prefer the natural process and the watch has only been hand polished with a cloth for processing, measures approx. 53mm in diameter x 76mm in length x 21mm thick (crystal included). A very early Waltham from the early 1900s, an impressive find in this heavy silver case, in excellent overall condition!
