Elgin 12S 15J grade 315 pocket watch #28879139, attractive nickel split plate movement with a silver-flashed finish, screw-down jewel settings and a fancy concentric circle damascene pattern, single sunk (SS) silver-toned metal dial with a vertical line brushed finish, art-deco style black Arabic numbers with black shadow lines and a black-marked subsidiary seconds register, dial has some small spots of discoloration and a few faint scratches, blue steel double cross-bar diamond style hands.
Lovely white gold filled (WGF) screw back & bezel (SB&B) case with an elegant engraved pattern of checkerboard engine turning at the edges and varying-width vertical line engraving in the center around a blank diamond-shaped monogram shield, deep floral engraving on the bezels and fancy bow and a coin edge frame, case is showing normal even wear with some notable smoothing to the engraving on the back, a small line of brass starting to show on the back bezel and bow, additionally it does appear that the back cover was cross threaded at some point, we have cleaned and smoothed the threads out and the cover seats smoothly and securely however it does not line up perfectly vertical without tightening the case back down extremely tight, measures approx. 44mm in diameter x 57mm in length x 10mm thick (crystal included). A very handsome vintage Elgin dress watch from the 1920s in excellent overall condition!
