Waltham 16S 23J lever set (LS) adj. 6p Vanguard U&D wind indicator pocket watch #25511758, handsome nickel bridge movement with raised gold jewel settings (some screw-down), a gold center wheel, diamond balance endcap and an elaborate mixed checkerboard & fancy concentric circle damascene pattern, this model has the time set lever at 11 o'clock, double sunk (DS) porcelain enamel Canadian-style dial with large fancy Arabic numbers, smaller fancy Arabic 13-24 inner ring of numbers, a black-marked subsidiary wind indicator register at 12 o'clock and a black-marked subsidiary seconds register at 6 o'clock, dial does have some faint hairlines, bold blue steel spade & whip style hands.
Re-cased into a heavy yellow gold filled (YGF) screw back & bezel (SB&B) case with an elaborate design engraved on the back of mixed-width vertical lines across the center surrounded by a ring of floral & triangular designs with a fancy blank tall oval monogram shield at 6 o'clock, deeply engraved bezels with a dash & dot design, smooth polish frame, short heavy shoulders, a fancy engraved French-style bow and a slightly domed glass crystal, case is showing normal wear with some light smoothing to the case engraving in places, a few small spots of brass starting on the bezels & frame and some notable smoothing and a bit of brass on the bow, additionally there are a few small scratches on the crystal, we can replace it with a new plastic crystal at no charge on request, measures approx. 51mm in diameter x 63mm in length x 15mm thick (crystal included). A high grade, attractive Waltham railroad grade watch from the 1920s in excellent overall condition!
