8" braided black ribbon straight style pocket watch chain with a yellow gold filled (YGF) fancy t-bar, textured black vintage ribbon has been expertly woven into a heavy weight box-weave pattern that, due to the nature of the material, has a slight bit of stretch to the weave and tapers at the ends to the YGF connector loops woven into the end of the design, one side of the chain is finished with a short length of YGF oval link chain that connects to the fancy YGF t-bar with a twisted design along the length, opposite end of the chain is finished with a small YGF classic swivel clasp, this chain is reminiscent of a remembrance braided hair chain and the ribbon does appear similar to safety necklace material we have seen used with watches from the late 1800's so it may be a variation of that style of chain made from an item important to the original owner, chain findings and length are showing normal even wear overall with a small amount of fraying on a few of the ribbons' edges along with some brass on the chain segment between the t-bar and ribbon, chain measures approx. 202mm in length, chain ribbon measures approx. 9mm square. An unusual and attractive vintage chain in excellent overall condition!
