Description:

Yellow gold filled (YGF) & enamel articulated cross pattée-shaped Knights of St. John pocket watch chain fob, heavy smooth polish YGF cross pattée base has black enamel finish on each arm and a hinged connection to the large YGF armored helmet and shoulders with a plumed design at the top supporting the top connector loop at the apex, visor on the helm is also hinged and can move up and down, front of the fob has a slightly raised center design of crossed swords behind a Maltese cross-shaped shield accented with red enamel on each arm, center has a white enamel design with an armored helm in gold and is marked "Knights St. John" in gold text, reverse is smooth polish with a large fancy monogram, possibly "WAP", fob is showing normal even wear overall however does have some unusual scuffing on the back where the hinged top meets the shield base, measures approx. 20mm wide x 37mm tall x 8mm thick.

We believe this is a brotherhood item for a degree of the Knights Templar of the Freemasons however it could be an homage to the Knights Hospitaller. An unusual and attractive vintage brotherhood watch chain fob in excellent+ condition!
