Elgin 6S 7J grade 206 ladies' pocket watch #8889896, beautiful nickel split plate movement with a fancy plate layout and an elaborate concentric circle web-like damascene pattern, mint single sunk (SS) porcelain enamel dial with roman numerals and a subsidiary seconds register has a distinctive hand-painted scene of bold purple grapes accented with dark green leaves and brown vines across the dial, blue steel spade and baton style hands, re-cased into an attractive yellow gold filled (YGF) hunting case (HC) with floret-design engraving across both covers that is then accented with small stars, larger star-shaped blank monogram shield on one side, reverse has the larger star nested with a smaller faceted star, braid-like detail around the floret engraving on the frame, inscription from 1896 on the dust cover, case is showing normal even wear overall but does have some moderate wear to the engraving and a few small spots of brass starting to show on the lower half of both covers, additionally, it appears that attempts were made to polish out the dust cover inscription and there is some discoloration around it, measures approx. 50mm in diameter x 60mm in length x 12mm thick. A beautiful and distinctive watch from the early 1900s in excellent condition!
