Description:
Elgin OS 15J grade 130 ladies' pocket watch #7251659, beautiful nickel split plate movement with screw-down jewel settings, a fancy plate layout and an elaborate concentric circle damascene pattern, single sunk (SS) porcelain enamel dial with roman numerals and a subsidiary seconds register has a few very short, faint hairlines, blue steel spade-style hands, original yellow gold filled (YGF) Essex hunting case (HC) with a distinctive engraving pattern, upper sections of both case covers are smooth polish, while the center and lower halves are engraved with crisp, detailed vermicelli and floral designs in a sunburst design coming from the blank fancy monogram shield on one side, a similar shield with engraved sunburst lines on the reverse side, throughout the engraving are then varying sizes of engraved, facets 5-point stars, partially engraved frame, wrist watch connection on the frame at 6 o'clock so you may wear this watch as a wrist watch if desired, glass crystal and engraving on the dust cover reading "From Mamma to Libbie".
Additionally, the interior of the back case cover still contains the paper information sheet from the case manufacturer, the paper is friction fit into the back and can be removed without damage to the case if desired. Case is showing only very light even wear overall with hardly any smoothing to the engraving, however there is a short but deep scratch on the edge of one cover and on the crystal bezel, possibly from a crude gold testing attempt, measures approx. 35mm in diameter x 52mm in length x 10mm thick. A very impressive, high quality vintage watch from the late 1800s with the rare find of a documented original case in excellent condition!
