Waltham 16J adj. grade No. 10616 wrist watch #31814133, case #247256, handsome vintage mechanical manual-wind nickel split plate 6/0S movement with a conversion bridge to add the sweep second hand and add an extra jewel for 16J total, brushed finish and bold red ruby jewels on the conversion bridge, matte black metal dial with white Arabic style numbers, a white marked minute register with luminous ball 5 minute markers and 10 minute Arabic markers at the very edge has some small scratches and specks of discoloration, it does not appear that the luminous material has retained its light emitting properties, blue steel baton style hands with exaggerated pointed tips and white enamel inserts with a white sweep second hand, these hands do look to be replacements.
Heavy white base metal (WBM) chrome water-resistant round Keystone case with a non-magnetic base metal friction fit cover settled into a gasket under the primary back cover that creates a highly water resistant design, rounded top bezel supports a slightly domed heavy plastic crystal, large WBM crown, and classic tapered, faceted extended lugs, back is marked "ORD DEPT. U.S.A. OF-174188", case is showing normal to moderate wear with some spots of discoloration and notable scratches along with some discoloration on the crown from use, measures approx. 31mm diameter x 39mm lug to lug x 12mm thick (crystal included), new lightly padded black leather strap band. An attractive military issue Waltham from the 1940s in very good overall condition!
